Vegan finds across new Zealand
I’ve written a few posts on some of the vegan restaurants we visited during our trip to New Zealand, but we found many more vegan options. We started our trip in Auckland and drove all the way to Wellington, with many stops along the way. We took the Cook strait ferry to Picton and from there we drove to Christchurch. The Transalpine from Christchurch to Greymouth was spectacular and the time we spent on the West coast was magical. The drive from Christchurch to Dunedin and Queenstown is breathtaking. Here are all the food we had along the way. Next post we talk snacks!
Ahi, Auckland (The sourdough was spectacular and I obviously didn’t eat the butter)
Baklava, Wynyard Quarter (They had a lot of other greek delicacies, all vegan!)
Duck Island, Wellington (Great ice cream!)
Aye! Wellington (Vegan empanadas and good coffee, though the service was not that great)
Cauliflower Tacos on the Cook Strait Ferry (These were delicious!)
Vegan pizza at Scoozi, Picton (I think it is the only place that has vegan food in Picton and they close early)
Snickersbar found in Waipara
Breakfast on the Transalpine train
Vegan pies on the Transalpine train (New Zealand is well known for their amazing pies and not many of them are vegan, so this was a great find!)
Beachfront hotel, Hokitika (We had the only two vegan options and both tasted very similar. I enjoyed the veggies though!)
Hokitika Sandwich company (You need to request a vegan option)
The Broadway Tearooms & Bakery (Delicious soup!)
Denniston dog restaurant (Weird name for a restaurant and they couldn’t really explain it, I loved the yaki soba!)
Formaggio’s Christchurch (A full vegan menu to choose from!)
Sandwich find in Timaru!
Awesome salad from a retail shop in Ashburton
Vegan wraps at Kahwah in Arrowtown (The most beautiful town we visited in the whole of New Zealand)
Vegan boa find at Little High Eatery in Christchurch
Coffee shop in the Central Ward, Christchurch (Loved the salad!)
GG Bistro (I was a bit disappointed here and I see that they have subsequently closed)
Auckland airport finds.
New Zealand is great for vegans!
