Review: Temu Vegan Palace
Temu Vegan Palace, Tanjung Tokong, Penang — South Indian Soul, Entirely Plant-Based
Temu Vegan Palace lives up to its motto — Peace, Love and Kind — from the very first bite. The menu proudly declares "We serve vegan dishes" and the kitchen delivers with genuine conviction. From the moment you step in, the unhurried atmosphere invites you to slow down — gentle lighting and a pace that feels genuinely restorative.
The deep-fried eggplant with curry leaves arrived golden and crisp, piled generously on fresh lettuce with cherry tomatoes and lime. Fragrant with curry leaves and finished with a rich, flowing orange curry sauce — bold, punchy and completely addictive.
The panyiaram stole the show — perfectly round, golden fried lentil dumpling-like bites served on a banana leaf alongside coconut chutney and a vibrant tomato sambal. Crispy outside, soft within, with both chutneys providing the ideal contrast — cooling and fiery in equal measure.
The lunch buffet is equally worth returning for — an impressive spread anchored by their standout banana leaf rice with curry, authentically spiced and deeply satisfying. At RM20–40 per person, the value is remarkable for cooking of this quality. Staff are warm and genuinely welcoming, making solo diners and groups alike feel completely at home.
